    Thinking about doing this project this weekend and doing the edging in reverse so I can pull it up after. Do you have a link for the 8 inch galvanized spikes at home depot?

    • @maxpatch67
      @maxpatch67 9 днів тому

      You have a great idea and I have done this recently. There might be a bag of plastic spikes that come with your plastic edging that you can use for this reverse/removable method. To make it even easier, use some strong scissors or clippers and snip these plastic spikes in half. Also, you can buy bags of these spikes. The neat thing about this method is that you can reuse a shorter piece of plastic edging over and over and also resuse the spikes to it can save you money. You know what? I just looked at the Home Depot website and they only have the 8" ones in bulk/box, so I'm going to post a link here for the cheaper plastic ones for you that you should use after you snip them in half: www.homedepot.com/p/ProFlex-8-in-Nylon-Spiral-Landscape-Anchoring-Spikes-24-Per-Pack-1989N-24C/205966606 I hope this helps, @robstone5010.

    • @maxpatch67

      It really depends how much it rains in your area if this would be a problem. Please let me know if I can help you any more, @CP-nf9my.

    Hello, I found your video as I was searching to get ideas on No Dig Borders. I watched a few videos where others used cardboard before the concrete. QUESTION.....Is the cardboard used as an extra protection from weeds growing through?????? I found your video VERY HELPFUL and Informative. Thank you so much for sharing.

    • @maxpatch67
      @maxpatch67 9 днів тому

      Thank you so much. I really appreciate your kindness. Yes, I sometimes use cardboard as well for the weeds. I use the cardboard after building the border. With this sturdy border, you don't need to put the cardboard down first. You would just overlap it over the extra concrete space on the backside of the border and them mulch on top. I only use cardboard in areas that either have grass in the area or a bunch of weeds have been there. Usually weeds are more of a problem in sunnier areas, but not always. I have a great video on using cardboard that I'll post here for you. Thank you again and please let me know if I can help you any more. ua-cam.com/video/HIWDPlaB6wY/v-deo.htmlsi=lDS_538RwGyL5SoN

    Quick question. I already have a bed that has an edge dug out but it's just a grass edge. Presumably I could clear an additional little track around the edge and put the cement right down in that track without the no dig edging right?

    • @maxpatch67
      @maxpatch67 9 днів тому

      Yes, if it is real flat this could work. In this situation, I always attach the plastic edge to the ground on top of the grass and right next to the old edge to the whole area is just slightly larger than it was. I think it looks better to have the border above the ground because it is a sculptural element that can add beauty if made neatly and with pleasing curves. I hope this helps.

    I have a bed of mulch from the front of my house to the walkway that leads to the house and was wondering if I need to push some of the mulch back from the edge of the walkway or just lay the border around the edging and then the concrete directly on top of the mulch that is already laid? We moved in a year and a half ago and last year all we did was lay some fresh mulch down over the old mulch but it is always scattering on the walkway and there are weeds still popping through. Great video!!!

    • @maxpatch67
      @maxpatch67 9 днів тому

      Thank you, @Em7306!! I almost always prefer to dig out the landscaping areas to make them lower so the mluch can sit in there properly and not spill over in the next few years. If you are able to dig out the dirt and mulch so its 4" below the edge of the walkway. If there is higher gound in the landsaping area, it should slope gently down to this edge. Find some good place to use this material like demping it up further into your landscaping area or around the house to help with drainage away from the house...or look for low spots in the yard to fill in. This all being said, once in awhile, there are special situations where I will build one of these with adaptions, on the edge of a sidewalk or driveway. I hope this helps.

      Try using landscaping block adhesive. Its very strong. Can find it in the caulking area of stores.

    Just heard a talk by Dr. Will Smith yesterday who is a backcountry rescue physician who, along with the helicopter pilots and first responders, practice and practice and practice medically stabilizing and then rescuing people in these situations. They are true heroes!!! I hope that the people who were rescued are as grateful to those who rescued them as they are to God!!!

      You can, but I don’t like the way it looks as much. Use landscaping block adhesive if you want to do it.

    Just did this to my yard for the first time, I am new to doing this and it seems to work well! I kinda alternated it and got it to set, but it looks neat and I did my best living by myself for now before I get a roomie. Thanks for this video!
